“A magnificent poem, one that ‘holds the night between two pale fingers.’”
George Lakoff

Absence Sensorium was written in 1993-4 in collaboration with the late San Francisco poet, Daniel Davidson. Dan died while the book was in production.

The poem comprises 526 seven-line stanzas. Each is either 7 or 11 syllables. The form, called a silva, is Spanish and was used by Luis Góngora, among others.
